Writing can be lonely existence. Sometimes, it's good to get out from behind the keyboard, see the sun and take a moment to talk to others who feel your pain, know your highs and lows and can offer support and guidance. The Westchester Writers Round Table is open to anyone who has decided to take the plunge and work on the craft of becoming a writer. It doesn't matter whether you've just finished your first chapter or have published a dozen books. Whether you write mysteries, children's books, h …
This group is for aspiring children/YA writers, teachers, and anyone else who read and love children fiction books. We will have discussion groups, book clubs, and other outings (suggested by you!) so that we can meet other people like us! If you are on the train reading book four of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (like I did a few weeks ago) then this is the group for you! I promise all of our discussions won't focus on Harry Potter or Twilight. :-)
Writers mostly write. Besides writing, the second most important act is submitting. I'd like to meet once a month with a group of writers who are submitting their work. During this meeting we can exchange ideas about motivation, where to submit certain kinds of work and the mechanics of submitting material. We can map out strategies for submitting work and make committments to the group about the process.
Meetup details are available only to members.
This group is a collective of writers, whose goals are to help each other develop our writing projects via critiques and sharing of resources, with strong motivation toward getting our work published. We actively develop our skills by sharing current works and providing critiques at our bi-weekly meetings. Published and unpublished writers are all welcome. We are serious about our writing, and sincere and helpful in our critiques. Plus, we're nice people!

A group of serious writers from Queens who want to workshop their writing once a month. All types of writing are welcome, but membership in the group is dependent on submitting a sample of your writing and having it approved. There is a $5 membership fee once you are accepted in order to cover the Meetup costs. Meetups will be scheduled at various venues around Queens so that the whole borough inspires us! There will be a limit of 5 people at each meetup. Workshops will be run so that everyo …
When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing. I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in gen …
Writing, whether for fun or profit, can be a lonely business. That's why it's nice to have other writers to hang out with, share what we're working on and, basically, keep us company while we write. I often find it hard to stick with a writing assignment at home, and have often thought "Wouldn't it be great to have a writing buddy to work alongside, each on our own project?" That's what I hope Writing with Friends can be for us all. A way to set aside time to either meet and share, write just fo …
At our meetings we write for thirty-minute stretches with ten-minute breaks. That's all. Bring your notebook, clay tablet, laptop, whatever you write on. Some write fiction, some write memoir, some write encyclopedia entries. It's up to you. There's no pressure to share or critique, but there are opportunities. This is mostly just a way to provide a comfortable environment for writing that's not so lonely. You can write whatever you wish, of course, but there will be writing prompts, if you' …

… We welcome legit actors, musical theater artists, playwrights, fiction writers, poets, etc. Come with a piece you'd like to read or bring in your own writing to share. I only ask that you bring enough copies for everyone else who’s attending that day, since we don’t have a budget for copies. If you don’t have anything to read or perform on a given day, I usually have several pieces with me. If you have any further questions, please send an email and I'll be glad to attempt to provide an …
A group of women dedicated to following their creative dreams - whether it's in how you ice your homemade cake to writing a screenplay or auditioning on Broadway. We welcome you!
We aim to share advice on self-publishing, discuss lessons learned and interesting facts. Given the host of available self-pub platforms and aggregators, it's often a challenge to determine the most effective method of self-publishing. Ebooks, POD, independent and interactive apps, will all be covered. There will also be ruminations on the future of self-publishing: where should it go from here? Those who have battle scars and success stories from self-publishing should come to show and tell. Ot …
